Description

Among the works of Imre Varga, who has been creating for more than seven decades, we can also find monumental public sculptures, monuments, portrait monuments and small sculptures, but he has tried himself in other genres other than sculpture, not only making medals and graphics, but also painting.
The title of the Girlfriends is an oil painting depicting two obscure female figures on a white-and-blue cobblestone terrace. One of them sits cross-legged in a red velvet chair, the other leans against the back of the chair. Their identities, their figures composed of unknown geometric proportions, almost evoke the beauty of the Greek body and its aesthetics.
Only 20 of Imre Varga's paintings were made, which can be seen in the collection on Laktanya Street. With his picture Girlfriends, the master makes it clear that he handled not only the chisel but also the brush.
